A Documentary Work-in-Progress by Mel Halbach
This a story about experiencing life undersea with 140 crew members on-board the USS Benjamin Franklin, a nuclear ballistic submarine during the cold war. Our mission was simple, be ready to launch 16 nuclear missiles, which had the capability of destroying more than 200 cities. Crazy, you bet ya!, and we had 41 of these subs during the entertaining years with the Russians. Interviews with former shipmates across the U.S., stock footage and animation provide a good dose of insight, humor and politics.
